Bon Octave — four stars, one Scale

Observe the circle.
It is not a chart hung on a studio wall. It is a room drawn as a ring: low earth at one pole — and beyond that pole, Tim Storms as the extreme low — height at the other — and beyond that pole, Georgia Brown as the extreme high — and between them the soft countries of voice — Bass, Tenor, Alto, Soprano. Not medical ranges. Not audition boards. A practice map for anyone still trying to be a little better than yesterday. The climb is the house climb: A → B · low → high — same direction as Octave, Zefira, and Rainbow. The Mount is not a second compass.
Present Perfect four
Johnny Cash · Bass — low earth, truth
Freddie · Tenor — lift, fire
Cher · Alto · Contralto — depth that holds the belt
Whitney · Soprano — height as gift
These are not museum plaques. They are the first stars of the Human Voices mount on inner.cricket.
Companion ring
Right next to them, quieter: Paul Robeson · Sam Cooke · Nina Simone · Maria Callas. Alto begins to ring the bell when Nina’s name lands. And for Sam Cooke the Why is almost too much to say aloud: lift that stays human — never only show.
That is the secret of the mount.
Why is as important a perspective as the matter itself.
The name without the Why is a label. The Why without the name is mist. Together they make a star you can gaze up at from below and feel that something is becoming real.
Your four
Each of us at inner.cricket has the right to nominate personally their own four voices + four Whys. That right is not borrowed. It is Yours.
A nominee should be someone who has a public record of live performance.
Four Whys. Four voices. One person nominates. Personal. Not a committee.
How the room listens
Hold A. Climb toward B. Seal with Space. Walk the golden Scale. When the Ear is open, a green pip rides the ring with your voice. The honor line below stays still — the whisper is not the fire. The voice is.
We are not bolting onto obsolete identity machines. When the time comes, a living voiceprint will be enough. We are the technology.
Until then: look up at the stars. Sit with the Why. Let the Alto ring. Let the Bass support. Let Tenors and Sopranos linger in sweet dither.
